Direct-to-garment printing in 2021 was worth $10.5 billion worldwide. It is projected to rise to $21.3 billion by 2026.
FAIRFIELD, N.J. (PRWEB)
December 13, 2022
Keypoint Intelligence has published a market outlook for direct-to–garment (DTG), printers for 2021-2026. The DTG printing devices are included in the forecast. They include desktop and industrial printers with multiple plates side-by-side, as well as toner transfer (EP), printers that compete in the low-priced commercial entry-level market. In the forecast deliverables, there is also a pivot table that includes figures for direct-to-film (DTF).
Direct-to-garment printing refers to the process of printing directly on textiles or garments using inkjet technology. Print transport and inkjet-deposition elements are two common solutions that allow you to print on garments when they are finished.
Based on placement data from key vendors, and analyzing machine capabilities in industrial and commercial environments, the 2021 market for DTG printers was established. Based on market trends, the forecast for 2026 can be broken down into the following regions:
- Asia Pacific (APAC)
- Europe Middle East & Africa (EMEA)
- North America (NA)
- South & Latin America (SLA)
Data gathering and forecasting were completed after the COVID-19 pandemic had ended. However, global economic disruption continues as the economy struggles to recover. Shipping disruptions and global supply chains continue to affect supplies of consumables and parts as well as garments.
“In 2021, direct-to-garment printing worldwide reached $10.5 billion in print value and is expected to reach $21.3 billion by 2026,” claims Johnny Shell, Principal Analyst at Keypoint Intelligence. “Digitally printed garments reached 958 million pieces printed worldwide with a projected CAGR of 16.8% thru 2026.”
Some trends are that workflow automation is still integrated with online marketplaces like Amazon and Shopify. This is made possible by both OEMs and third party providers. Additionally, speed gap between commercial and industrial mid-level printers is closing and faster industrial high-level DTG printers dismiss the notion that “digital is too slow.” Growth in global e-commerce is expected to continue, reaching a 24.5% share by 2025 and digitally printed apparel continues to trend in the e-commerce direction.
