Cashmere wool is a luxuriously soft, cozy material that has been made in Nepal, Mongolia, and Kashmir for thousands upon thousands of years. By the 19th century, it had reached Europe in shawl form, and fast forward to the 1950s, the material was imported to America on a sizeable scale — not only in accessories but ready-to-wear, including chic outerwear.
